New Art Brut Songs Up On Pitchfork!!!!!!

There is an Art Brut song that has been in my head for about a half a year now. I was lucky enough to se Art Brut perform this gem at Soundfix Records and at Siren Festival and agonized over the terribly recorded versions on YouTube. Now thanks to the internet, Pitchfork, and the nature of building pre-album buzz I finally get to hear a fully realized version of the song.

It's called "Post Soothing Out" and it is available here. (embed wasn't working...)

The Fork also have two other songs from Art Brut's June 6th released It's A Bit Complicated. The other songs are not quite as good as earlier Art Brut but I've only listened to each once and shant let that deter my excitement over the new album.

Whitehouse Correspondents Dinner

One of the strangest things of any political year is the Whitehouse Correspondents dinner. It's a night when politicians including the President try their hand at comedy, in spite of the crumbling planet and the daily risign death tallies in the wars we're fighting abroad.

Having said that President Bush actually does an okay job at these things. Last night:
"A year ago my approval rating was in the 30s, my nominee for the Supreme Court had just withdrawn, and my vice president had shot someone," President Bush said Wednesday night during the annual gathering.

"Ah," he said, "those were the good ol' days."

More disturbing still is the picture of Karl Rove dancing along with the inocuous rap song being wipped up by members of the cast of
Who's Line Is It Anyway.

Objectively The Best Metal Song Ever!

I probably listen to "Battery" four times a week. This may seem strange to some, especially considering my taste tends to er on the experimental side. Even the metal I tend to champion usually sits somewhere around the noise rock/shoe-gazey/punky fringe. But then you hear "Battery" and inverts your stomach and makes you feel like a 14 year old with lots of hormone issues and a need for aggressive release.

I don't know maybe I'm crazy. But sincerely I listen to "Battery and find it hard to not love Metallica. Now that is a powerful little number...

PS: Did you know Metallica will be up for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction next year? Crazy.
