MTV A Safe Haven For Indie-Comedy?

The Mtv2 schedule seems to currently be built around Andy Milinokis and Wonder Showzen. But it seems they may be getting a new anchor to the schedule from a certain group of enterprising underground New York comedians.

The Apiary reports (though clarrifies with an "aleging") Aziz Ansari, Rob Heubel, Paul Sceer, and Jason Wolinder (otherwise known as Human Giant, who's website is really kind of the deckenz) have a TV show in development at Mtv. Is it going to be sketch comedy to fill the void left by Chappelle? Is it going to be some kind of ground breaking new sitcom in the veign of Stella? Is it going to be THE GREATEST COMEDY PROGRAM IN TELEVISION HISTORY????

It's too soon to tell. But I say let the unrealistic pre-emptive hyperbolic hype machine begin!!!!!!!!!!!!

A "Catholic Leader" Publicly Referring To People As "Little Whores"

South Park really knows how to knock one out of the park. They did this week in an episode goating Comedy Central executives to censor them, they attempted to show pictures of Mohamed. As you probably remember there was much violent protests recently in the Arab world over cartoons showing Mohamed. As a result of fear of perpetuating this Comedy Central chose to Censor the scene with Mohamed. A shot with the words "Comedy Central refuses to air an image of Mohamed" appeared. In the following scene Jesus was pooping on President Bush and a gala of celebs.

CNN reported today that William Donohue of the Catholic League (a media watchdog group) has sayed in light of the censorship that Trey Parker and Matt Stone should resign.

To quote:
"The ultimate hypocrite is not Comedy Central -- that's their decision not to show the image of Mohammed or not -- it's Parker and Stone. Like little whores, they'll sit there and grab the bucks. They'll sit there and they'll whine and they'll take their shot at Jesus. That's their stock in trade."

Hipocrits or not the episode was really impressive. You should all try and catch it on repeat this weekend.

Today's "Best Song Ever"

They Might Be Giants "Snowball In Hell"

For the doofiness inherent in their general wordiness. Despite the nazel harmonies. Despite the accordian. They Might Be Giants are one of the smartest bands you can stumble over. They explore big themes that are sometimes almost inscrutible to the average ear. This is one such song as the double entendres and puns pile up your left not quite understanding how you were out smarted. Which is sort of the point.
