Studio 60 On the Sunset Strip Best T.V. Show of The Fall?

I once loved The West Wing. It lost me somewhere between Rob Lowe and John Goodman. However, I believe Aaron Sorkin is poised for a resurection with his new drama this fall on NBC. Studio 60 On the Sunset Strip is the none Tina Fey* made television show about the backstage shenanigans involved with making a late night sketch comedy show. Here is a very exciting preview of the show.(UPDATE: The video has been removed by a bunch of bastards.)

The show has Matthew Perry and former The West Wing co-star Brad Whitford as it's stars, but I'm most excited about the inclusion of D.L. Hughley and Nate Cordrey (from The Daily Show. It seems sort of shocking that NBC would put on a show clearly so critical of it's own network(seriously watch the preview, it's scathing). I figure since I'm really excited about it we can expect it to be on for a half a season or so and maybe we'll get a twenty episode DVD out of the deal.

*Tina Fey's show is still without a title but also seems to have been picked up for the fall. Unlike Studio 60 it's a sitcom.

Something To Look Forward To: Herbert Scale

I've never given Bodily Functions much of a chance. Last year saw me ignoring (at my own perril I'm sure) the Róisín Murphy album which I heard recommended by everyone from James Murphy to the Animal Collective. But "Something Isn't Right" is nothing if not motivating. I've heard the new Herbert album Scale and it is some impressively crafted disco pop.

It's amongst the best albums of the year. It appeals to my musical sweet tooth without feeling debased (like Annie!).

El Perro Del Mar vs. Th Pipettes

Hmmm... I was under the impression El Perro Del Mar was the break out of the Post-Specter-Indie-Pop revival thingie. Recently extensive coverage in Pitchfork(here, here, here)suggests to me they are being groomed as ONE OF THE BIG THINGS this year.

Have I lost touch?

Is their room in indie twon for both of em?

Some things I do know:

The Pipettes are hotter, they also have at least three ote worthy singles. El Perro Del Mar has a less holky image, not to mention at least one song that beats all of the Pipettes songs(the second best single of the year so far**** "(God Knows) You Gotta Give To Get").

I'm just thinking out loud.

****Singles of the year so far.
1) T.I "What You Know Bout That"
2) El Perro Del Mar "(God Knows) You Gotta Give To Get"
3) Clipse "Mr. Me Too"
4) Herbert "Something Isn't Right"
5) Yeah Yeah Yeahs "Gold Lion"
