Something to Look Forward To: Pink Mountaintops 'Axis of Evol'

Remember when Black Mountain's self titled album blew your fucking head off on impact last year? Of course you don't. What you might remember is being slowly lulled into loving the eponymous album's kraut inflected stoner vibes.

Well mark March 7th on your record buying calander (or start your illegal search for an illegal leaked version). Many of your favorite musicians from Black Mountain show up on this related Mountain album (pastoral electronic artists Mountains and 70's rock monsters Mountain not to mention the Mountain Goats have nothing to do with this collective).

Check out a song about drugs here.

The Grammy's Are Totally Pitchfork's Demo

I begrudge Ryan Schrieber nothing. He's the center of a more democratized rock critic mafia that has all but neutered Rolling Stone. What's not to love?!?

However, with that in mind I'd like to wonder aloud (in blog form) why CBS would so thouroughly promote their Grammy telecast to the readers of the venerable indie rock music webzine Pitchforkmedia.com?

Of Pitchfork's top 50 albums of 2005 only 3 are nominated for Grammy's. Other than Kanye all of those albums are nominated in specific genre categories like Best Dance Recording (LCD Soundsystem) and Best Rap Performance (The Game), that aren't even aired on television. Seems like poor demographic research on CBS's part.

I'm just saying is all.

An Event Worth Checking Out

If you don't know, Dead Rabbit and Murray are Staten Island's finest indie rock bands. Martini Red is Staten Island's finest hipster enclave/watering hole (I DJ there on occasion).
