The Number: 402 572 7581
So a couple weeks ago I wrote a post. Nothing on my blog has recieved more responses because apparently I'm one of the few references for this number. I'm kind of freaked out a smidge by all this stuff. What exactly is this number all about? What the hell?
91 Comments:
you didnt mention this to me
thats F'ing freaky... I've gotta pay better attention to your blog...
I think it's Comcast's automated appointment reminder service.
I just got the call twice. First time I didn't answer and the second time an automated voice confirmed the delivery date of the furniture I bought. This leads me to believe that it's just a company in the middle of Nebraska that provides automated customer service/confirmation calls for large companies.
I just had a cell phone message from that number, googled it, and got this website. Apparently I have an appointment between 2 and 4 tomorrow (the 12th). They did leave a customer service number in case I wanted to cancel or change my appointment: 888-683-1000. I need to have someone 18 years of age or older with me (I'm 54!), and "thank you for choosing Adelphia."
Weird!!! I am in Northern Virginia and at work, and just missed three calls for this number, googled it, and found this site as well.... and only ten people have my phone number! I never give it out to any companies or anything. Noone left a message and I missed the calls. But... WEIRD! ~ Freaked out in Virginia! Lol!
I recently hooked up service to Adelphia, and I see that mentioned in a couple of these posts, so I'm guessing it has something to do with adelphia giving out our numbers.
i googled this number after getting not one but FOUR MISSED CALLS from the 402. I thought that, god for bid, something bad had happened to someone. Tried calling it back, no pick up...tried calling again, busy signal. I think it's an appointment reminder though because I do have a cable appointment sched. at my house for this sat. Thanks to all you bloggers for helping me out!
Yeah, same song and dance for me. I agree with the Adelphia connection. I have an appointment tomorrow to transfer my account to a new apartment. The whole thing is pretty odd though. I'm out in LA if that helps anybody, but it seems to be all over the country.
I just got a call from the number as well, the msg that was left was from Levitz furniture about a delivery date/time. This number must be some sort of automated relay number hence the random companies calls coming from one source. I would say that its a third party call center.
This is an automated system for confirming appointments Comcast etc... Could be for service, delivery etc....
This is an automated confirmation service system. Comcast uses the service for confirming service appointments etc.... Used by many other companies as well.
It is a telemarketing company in Omaha. They are contracted by many different companies to make marketing calls, comfirm appointments and make reminders. Yes, Comcast uses them to confirm appointments and also to notify large numbers of customers when a area service outage has been fixed. If you call Comcast during an large outage the system gives you an opion to request a call when the service has been restored. West Interactive(402-572-7581) makes that call.
i have been getting this number for the last week! no answer, but i do have an appointment with comcast this weekend...interesting...
Hey thanks for posting this in your blog. It all makes sense to me now. Got an apt. w/ Comcast tomorrow. Wierd. I didn't think they had my number, go figure. I guess next call I'll actually pick up!
huh,odd...I keep getting this call, no message left, but I don't have any Adelphia apts. or anything being delivered or stuff like that...how strange!
Just to let other know, DirecTV uses this number to confirm installation appointments as well.
The idea of this being an automated confirmation service is right. I have an appointment tomorrow between 1-5 (thanks cable TV people!), and I bet that's why this call was made. I also googled it and found, well, you! (BTW, Adelphia is the phone #)
Today, January 4, 2006, I received two phone calls from this number as well.. I tried calling it back and it is busy all the time.. So I did like everyone else did, I googled the number and found it was from Nebraska.. BTW, thank you to the anon. person before me telling me it is an Adelphia number.. That kind of sums it up for me.. I just cancelled my cable TV service with them, that could be why they are calling, but not leaving me a message.
Like so many others, I wound up on this blog after googling the 402-572-7581 phone number. I'm in Orange County, CA, and I DON'T have Comcast -- this is a Time-Warner area. I don't have any other appointments to be confirmed, either. My dentist's and doctors' offices call me directly, as does my racquet club to confirm tennis court times. The instant hang-up is very rude and unsettling.
I'm in Boston, MA and missed a few calls from this number 402-572-7581 (today, Feb. 15th). I googled it to see who it was since no message was left and came here.... while I was doing so I received a call from the same number and answered it. It was an automated Comcast message telling me that I had an appointment for tomorrow, 5-7 PM (which I do).
I just received a cell call from thios number...Googled it...and here I am. I do have an appointment with Adelphia tomorrow...so the previous posts make sense. ;)
Rude and unsettling says it all. I have a Comcast hookup in two days, so they're the one. I hope the service is better than no phone message left.
i just wanted to also add that i got this call too! how weird. i think it is comcast.
We got two mystery 402 calls, and sure enough we have a Comcast appointment. Thanks for posting this and solving the mystery for us. It's NOT the NSA....this time.
This evening, I called the local power company to report a problem. 2 hours later, I rec'd a call from this number to say that the electric power had been restored in my area.
Ok I used to live in Northern VA and now I am in LA. I have 3 missed calls from this number and googled it and ended up here like the rest of you. I do have furniture sched to be delivered this Sat and believe this has something to do with it. I don't have any cable installations scheduled either. So it makes me wonder what everyone is talking about when they mention Adelphia since I have Cox. WEIRD !!! Oh well, hopefully I catch it next time !!
As already noted, this number is from a third party call center contracted to make announcements and appointment confirmations for dozens of companies. I have recieved 4 calls this afternoon from this number. On the last call, they finally left a message. It was from our county government advising us that effective immediately, there is a total outdoor water ban in our area.
I got two calls from this number and it turned out that the first time I tried to answer and got disconnected. The second time I did not answer and it recorded a voice message confirming my comcast installation appointment. I believe the automated system cannot handle or takes to long to handle an answered call vs direct voicemessage. I wonder who wrote such crappy code!!
for me I think it was a reminder for my supershuttle pickup but i missed the call
06/23/06 TOO, bizarre! 6 mystery phone calls later and after reading this Blog site, I realize I have a Comcast appointment tomorrow and most likely, this is my appointment reminder (like I'd need one for waiting for DSL to be hooked up!).
I received calls from this number as well. We had power outages in DC from all the rain, and I called PEPCO to report an outage. The PEPCO recording asked if I want to be called when power was restored; I said yes. This number called to tell me that power was restored. Don't freak out everybody.
I have received two phones calls from this number. Originally I thought it was a creditor trying to get payment from us. Upon googling this number I came across this posting.
I do not have an appointment scheduled with for installation of service of any kind...nor have we recently lost services that I have contacted anyone to have them let me know when service has been restored.
This being said...I'm really confused.
I got a call from this number tonight, but they left no message. Based on others posts I'm sure this was an automated call letting me know when the power would be back on. We had an outage tonight, and they promised to call back to let me know when it would be restored (it already was).
So it's automated phone calling system that doesn't work well.
Dave
I got a call from this number this evening but it left no message. Based on others comments, I'm sure it's an automated call on behalf of the power company to let me know when our power would be restored (it was out earlier).
Evidently this automated calling company sucks though since they don't often seem to play the message.
Same here, just got three calls, and it's the Levitz connection.
BTW, never buy from Levitz furniture, they're horrible.
I've received three calls from this number in the last half-hour, with no messages left. Coincidentally, I DO have a technician from Comcast coming out tomorrow; same as what a few others said.
I'm in BOSTON getting crazy calls from the Omaha number. We don't have Adelphia up here and I'm not expecting furniture.
Wicked Weird!
Scott said, "...Comcast uses them to confirm appointments and also to notify large numbers of customers when a area service outage has been fixed. If you call Comcast during an large outage the system gives you an opion to request a call when the service has been restored. West Interactive(402-572-7581) makes that call."
I'm in Philly and we had massive power outages a few nights ago. I gave my cell # to PECO to call when service has been restored. Service was restored at 1 a.m. Wednesday morning - got three calls from this 402 # Wednesday evening (didn't pick up). Will assume that's what it was all about, though.
Thanks for this website!
Well I guess Ill join in on the bandwagon and say.. I got the number too.. in fact 3 times this morning... but Im not calling it back.
I got this number as an auto-apt from Comcast. They actually got ahold of us later so it was in "received calls".
This is the number that appaers on my Caller ID when Dominion Virginia Power, or maybe it's Virginia Dominion Power. Whichever it is, it's the number shows up when the electric company calls to inform me that they've restored my power.
I'm getting comcast set up tomorrow. This was an automated message from them.
I got a call from this number last night and googlrd West Interactive this morning it is a phone service that a lot of companies use that is automated to call and remined you of an appointment that you have set up.
An interesting site:
http://whocalled.us/lookup/4025727581
I just had a call from this number, my mom cannot operate a cell phone so she hung up on the call. So I tried calling back, no one picked up the phone when I called back a moment later. Googling the number brought me here, the only thing I can glean from the other comments is that my internet is working again, after the service disruption this morning, of course, it's been up for hours, but they must just have gotten around to calling, for I have no appointments for anything, anywhere in the near future.
me toooooo....i'm in Boston, think it's comcast acording to everyone's thouhts...THANKS!!!!
I got a call from this number last night. Too late in the night and when i called the number back, it kept on ringing. This is creepy !!!
Well I'm in Florida. I called Florida, Power and Light to report and outage around 11am. They stated that powere would be back by 230pm. The power camback around 112pm. But was told that a auto call aournd 230 would be made for an update. So I guess it was for that. Now we have Comcast, FPL and many other compnaies using the number.
fo' real...it is not February 2007 and this blog was the first thing to come up in Google when i searched the number...it just called me about 4 times...weird
Wow... a bunch of people connected by a random Omaha call. This call woke me up this morning, I didn't answer, I just wanted to sleep. And yeah, I googled the number and found this blog.
Funny thing is... my Comcast appointment was yesterday.
I just got a call from it as well. I reported a power outage to FPL; and this was an update recording. I had 2 calls earlier from them, but they didn't show a number. This time they did. Odd.
I just got a call from this number it was my local power to confrim a power outtage in the area was repaired so this is am automated call back service
Got here as well by Googling the number. We just had power restored in centeral VA, and I had requested confirmation, so that is what it must be.
I just got a call from this number and found this site when I Googled the number. After reading a few comments, I see that this is probably a reminder from Comcast -- I have an appointment in two days.
Thanks.
I recieved a call from this number in response to my call, into Comcast yesterday. Service was down in my area and they have a service that calls you once service is restored. Only took them 11 hours after service was restored to call and let me know it was back up.
In my case, there was a power outage today. I'm assuming it's what's posted above:
Comcast uses them to notify large numbers of customers when a area service outage has been fixed. If you call Comcast during an large outage the system gives you an opion to request a call when the service has been restored.
yup - got a call from this number too just 5 minutes ago on my verizon phone. no vm as i had picked it up, but no sound on other end of line. google on.
HEY! The number is from a for-hire call center in Nebraska. The guy had my name as a prior Democratic candidate political contributor (this stuff is available on-line due to federal election reporting rules). He asked me for money for the John Edwards for President campaign.
FYI, I said I was "undecided" and did not contribute. Does this fit for any of you?
Kevin (lurp@yahoo.com)
Plus, I'm sorry for polluting your blog with this stuff....
thanks for all the posting, I am in Colorado, have an appt with Direct TV on Saturday .. I'll answer next time.
I too recieved a call from this number and it is harmless. I live in Northern Virginia and reported a power outage to my home. This is the phone number which left an automated message from the power company letting me know that power had been restored. Kinda uncool that they don't have an automated message of their own just stating who they are. Oh well.
I just got a voicemail from this number too, and of course like all of you googled it and found this blog.
This is to funny... I am like all the others who missed a call from this mystery number and when I called it back it just rang! Im glad Im not the only one and that for once I actually found an answer online! hahaha
Wow! This is great! I'm glad I could come to your blog and find an answer to these random phone calls I've been receiving from the 402 number as well. Like everyone else... They didn't leave a message so I called back and it just rang and rang, so I googled the number and got this site! I have a comcast appt tomorrow!!! Would have never guessed that's what it was... Thanks for all of your comments!
It's confirming a delivery. For me it was a living room set purchased from Levitz.
A woman with an accent from this number called me today and kept asking me questions about my education so that she could send me info.
OK So I live in Spokane Wa and I just received a call from this number to but didn't answer.. And whats weird is i did that do not solicite list for my cell phone.. I didn't answer because I've heard that if you answer and something about you can get charge for just one minute and its outrageous..
So It's I again.. i just got a call again and answered it.. it was comcast with a recording sayin there is some outstanding equipment that needs to be returned.. and I just disconnected my cable.. for those of you who don't have cable how long have you had ur # and maybe whoever put ur number on their account and now they are disconnecting their cable with ur number still on there.. I feel much better..
It's an automated message service that hasn't learned how to LEAVE A MESSAGE.
My high-speed internet was out, so I called Comcast to inquire. There was an automated representative who said that service was down in my area and that I could receive a message when service was up again. It must only work during regular business hours and on a 16 min. loop.
I think it's madness that COMCAST doesn't have the TECHNOLOGY to leave a message (putting thousands of minds at ease), but something tells me they're in it for money and couldn't care less.
It's Comcast
Raleigh, NC: # called my cell -> Progress Energy automated callback after power restoration because I notified them of a power outage 20 minutes earlier...
Dudes, I'm in NJ (but my phone is a Pa, number) and I got it twice 10 minutes. You sure it's not some weird 'new service' or study to see who picks up an Unknown caller vrs a Number we recognize?
Comcast doesn't have my number- why would they call.
I have a Comcast appt. on Friday and got a call from this number today.
came to this site after googling for this number-- 4 missed calls. I am a comcast customer but dont have an appt. I assume it's them. thanks for the help, dudes and dudettes! 6/18/2008
Last night, my Comcast high speed internet went down. I called
Comcast and they had an option to receive an automated call back when the problem had been resolved and that the phone call I would receive would be between 8am and 5pm. I chose to get this call.
So, this morning, a little after 9am, this 402# called me and did not leave a voice mail (I didn't answer the phone).
So I agree with previous postings that says this is an automated call service to deliver automated info., probably from a variety of companies... hope that helps confirm things.
Curious Accountability Freak ^^^ just described the exact same thing that happened to me.
I just checked my phone after work and saw three missed calls from 402-572-7581. I googled it and your post came up first in the search.
I listened to my voicemail, and it turned out to be a call for furniture delivery. The caller left a local number (local to me) to return the call.
Just received a call from this number, came up West Interactive.. I googled the number and your page showed up.. How are these people getting our numbers?
It was a Comcast appointment verification.
This is an automated system for confirming appointments Comcast etc... Just got the call also!
This number is from http://www.westinteractive.com/ they are hosted call center guys and their client could be any one. When I called back this number it is giving an option to put our number into a "do not call" list.
I'm sure my call was to tell me the power has been restored at my business. Oddly enough, they can't leave a message?
just office depot calling to let me know that our items had been shipped
My internet stopped working last night and my computer told me to call my provider. Apparently, everyone who had Comcast internet in my area was also trying to call b/c the service was out! So I opted to "receive a call when the service was running again" and got the call this morning. My phone didn't ring so I googled the number and this is what I came across!
I received 4 calls every 15 minutes (which I missed) These were for a comcast repair appt. I had scheduled. Seems to be a legit number fyi.
Lincoln Electric (LES) uses them too. They called to report that our outage had been restored.
I received a call from this number with an automated message letting me know my comcast service was restored after a wind storm had knocked it out.
I was awakened at 12:30 a.m.this morning then again at 12:46 a.m.I thought maybe something happened to someone that I care about, everyone knows I retire early and would never dare to call me this late.On caller i.d.this number and the name "WEST INTERACTIVE" showed up.I live on the outskirts of Philly(city of brotherly SHOVE)and I know I don't know anyone from Nebraska(what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas?)I think.Have a good one people.
Same song and dance for me. 2 calls from nebraska number with no message left, so I googled the phone number and ended up here. I have to agree with automated service idea. I live in washington state and have Comcast cable. My service went out and I called, was told automated service would let me know when it was back. Wish they'd told what number to watch for. Verified, while typing this post number called again so I answered. Automated line from comcast saying they fixed my problem.
Central Hudson calling to tell me my power was back on...
MidAmerican energy letting me know the power's been restored
I got this number, then an unknown, then a different Omaha number, then another unknown. It was all in a short period of time. None of the first three calls left a message. Google search brought me here too lol. I answered the fourth call. Turns out it was my Arkansas based electric company verifying if my power was restored after an outage. Definitely an automated call, but was actually legit.
