It's Here and It's Wonderful: Kanye West's Late Registration

So, the Kanye West album is here and it's absolutely worth the hype. Is it the best album of the year? Not sure but it seems likely. Halfway through it now and my expectations have been handily been met surpased and re-met.

I don't know Tim. I'm listening to it for the second time and it's not nearly as lively as the last album. It has some great tracks, "Roses" is excellent as is "Crack Music". The two singles are also awesome and lyrically it's outstanding but it's not quite what expected. Still a fucking awesome album, but I'm not going to go out and say it's the best album of the year. I got the Death Cab album to, which isn't great but deserved more than a 6.5 from Pitchork, maybe a 7.8 or so.

All I'm saying is, it's not as good as the last one.

I've only listened once... but on intitial impressions I've got to say... Pat you're out of your mind.

Its definatly better even if just because its more distinct. Its different sounding than Kanye West rap producer, its now Kanye West the musical artist. His sound and style has expanded while also becoming more cohesive. Hes more confident and more practiced on the mic.

I dont know about best album of the year necesarily... but I can't think of what would beat it off the top of my head.

Also I think Pitchfork was too nice to the Death Cab album it blows.
I've written more exciting music while in a coma, and I've never been in a coma... you get the idea...

Terrence hates Death Cab For Cutie as a rule so that assertion is a bit forced. But the new Death Cab material does indeed blow.

man Pat... a little on the hostile side are we?
(Pat desided to send his anger via a myspace message rather than post it here)
so Pat allow me to respond in the public forum.
1. Ive gotten the balls up to perform and write music... had a band for 3 years. not saying we were any better than Death Cab, or anyone for that matter but...
2. The better stuff in a coma thing was a joke. hence the "never been in a coma..." saying that dead air is better than the new Death Cab. which the new Death Cab isnt far from dead air so... (oooooohh snap!)
3. I reserve the right to review/critique any band i damn well please. If people only reviewed things they liked no one would ever get a bad review... and then what would be the point of "critics"

what was the point of not posting that?
