I recently made the statement: "If you're ever really in need of a new Pavement album just listen to the Silver Jews." This is remarkably reductive and quite honestly a huge over-simplification of the songwriting abillity of Steve Berman. On this song (like many in his catalogue) Berman uses the shattered narrative and absurdist seemingly non-sequiter lyrical styling popularized(?) by Pavement to reflect inner termoil and his depressive bent. It's the sort of emotional honesty that Stephen Malkmus in all his fractured genius glory could never mustar.
